Grand Floridian Afternoon Tea

Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted two things: a) to be a princess and b) to experience a real life tea party. Well, when you are at Disney World, every girl is a princess, so I had that one covered, but my next goal to accomplish was experiencing the tea party! Luckily, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort offers an amazing traditional British afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea Room! Held from two o’clock to five o’clock every day, you can choose from a wide assortment of traditional tea fare and feel like a true royal!

I knew I had to do this when I was at Disney World for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, so I made reservations for our last full day in the parks. We checked in about twenty minutes prior to our reservation time, but they took us to our table immediately! If you’ve never been to the Garden View Tea Room, it is a small, quaint and quiet area of the Grand Floridian, with a wall of windows that offer views of the courtyard outside. It is beyond gorgeous! Time your reservation around 3 PM and you can be there to listen to the Grand Floridian’s pianist play in the lobby while you sip your tea!

The menu has a wide variety of teas, as well as different meal packages to choose from – all include an assortment of pastries, cheese, fruits, finger sandwiches and a few other packages include extra cheese plates and a selection of wine or champagne! My friend and I ordered two different packages that they allowed us to share, it was a terrific arrangement! We both had the Princess Breakfast Tea (a Grand Floridian specialty tea!), and I highly recommend it! (In fact – we both loved it so much that we bought tins of it to bring home! Now I enjoy a small taste of Disney World every day!)

The beauty of the Grand Floridian and the gorgeous instrumental music coming in from the lobby, mixed with the delicate and yummy foods were an experience that I had only dreamed of! This afternoon tea is the perfect mid-day break from Magic Kingdom, as you can hop on the monorail, ride over to the Grand Floridian, and enjoy a break from the Florida sun! The menu has something for everyone, from children to adults, so it’s a great activity for those on an adults-only vacation, as well as those traveling with children!
The Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room takes approximately an hour and a half to two hours from start to finish, and is not included on the dining plan.
