Family comes first while on vacation, especially when vacationing with Disney. You may be on an island, far away from the Disney parks, but this still rings true at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa Hawaii.

One of the best things for children at Aulani is Aunty’s Beach House. Aunty’s is a 5,200 square foot club for kids ages 3 to 12. Parents check in their kids to the secure club area and are free to enjoy the adult pool, receive a spa treatment, or enjoy a wonderful meal at ‘Ama ‘Ama (the resort’s signature restaurant) while knowing that their children are having a wonderful time.

Most activities at Aunty’s are complementary. Activities include Disney movies, Hawaiian arts and crafts, hula lessons, interactive game tables, costumes and more. There are even some wonderful hidden surprises – don’t miss the magical windows in the game room.

Daily activities at Aunty’s are published in the resort’s Daily ‘Iwa, the daily newsletter. Some of the activities do have a limit to the number of children who can participate and are only offered on certain days. If there is a specific activity your child is interested in, be sure to head to Aunty’s right before opening, about 10-15 minutes prior. You’ll be able to talk to the counselors to sign up for each activity. You can also sign up for meals then if your child will be in the club during meal times (meals are available for a fee).

Some of the favorite complimentary activities include –

· Stitch’s Space Goo – have fun with the Professor and Stitch and make the Professor’s secret Space good while conducting science experiments

· Eruption Disruption – The Professor visits for more science fun as they learn about the islands’ formation and make their own volcanoes

· Keiki Hula – kids learn the official Aulani hula

Eruption Disruption

Aunty’s also offers two premium activities – ‘Fish are Friends’ and ‘Surf’s Up with Chip and Dale’. You are able to register children for these activities prior to your trip but are not charged until the event takes place.

In ‘Fish are Friends’, your children will learn how the animal specialists train, feed, and care for the marine animals at Aulani. Your child will prepare fish food and then visit the fish at Rainbow Reef to feed them. They will also receive a lunch and a DVD of Disneynature Oceans and a “Fish are Friends” cinch bag.

During ‘Surf’s Up with Chip and Dale’, your children will decorate their own wooden mini-surfboard and enjoy a fun themed dinner, followed by a visit from Chip and Dale for a dance party. After the party, your children will get to take home their decorated mini-surfboard in a cinch bag.

Surf's Up

Aunty’s has an Open House each morning so you can visit the club with your children. During this time, there are also fun activities for families with children who are under 3 years old. As always, check the resort Daily ‘Iwa for all the details.

A fun bonus at Aunty’s is that a Disney PhotoPass photographer will visit during some of the special activities. Because Aunty’s is secure (no parents past the check-in desk), you are not able to observe your children as they explode their volcanoes or learn the hula. If you visit the PhotoPass kiosk in the General Store, you can tell them which activities your child participated in during the day at Aunty’s. They will then bring up the photos so you can find your child and load them to your PhotoPass card. My children loved visiting the kiosk daily to find their pictures and relive all the exciting fun they had!
