Universal Orlando is all about the movies. From family favorites like ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘Shrek’ to action movies like the ‘Terminator’ and ‘Mummy’ films to comedies like the ‘Men in Black’ movies and the ‘Simpsons’ movie, there is a part of Universal that celebrates them all. The daily culmination of this celebration is the nighttime show, Cinematic Spectacular.

The Cinematic Spectacular is a phenomenal show that takes place on walls of water in the middle of the lagoon in the middle of the park. The show includes fire, water effects and even fireworks in addition to movie clips celebrating Universal’s 100 Years of Movies.

One of the best viewing spots can be found at Lombard’s Seafood Grille. Guests can purchase the Cinematic Spectacular Dining Experience. This option can be added to your Universal Vacation Package; just ask your Travel with the Magic Travel Planner! The cost is $44.99 for adults and $16.99 for children.

The meal includes an appetizer, entrée and non-alcoholic drink for adults and an entrée and non-alcoholic drink for children. The purchase also includes tax and gratuity (of course you can always give extra gratuity for phenomenal service). At the end of your meal, you’ll be given a voucher to return to Lombard’s for a dessert buffet and seating in a special viewing area.

Our reservations were at 6 pm. I wanted to have some time to experience more of the park between dinner and dessert and the timing worked out perfectly. Our meals were all wonderful and Universal was great about accommodating my special diet request. For our appetizers, my husband and I ordered things that we could share so the kids could partake as well. Their spinach and artichoke dip is wonderful (even the kids loved it!) and so were the fried cheese bites.

Lombard’s is modeled after the buildings in Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco and the seafood did not disappoint! Our party enjoyed the fish tacos, the catch of the day and everything else.

Seating for the dessert reception starts about an hour before Cinematic Spectacular’s start time. The seating area includes seats as well as some tables, although the tables don’t have the best view of the show. There was a good selection of desserts to choose from as well as coffee and hot water for tea.

The show is a celebration of Universal’s movies from the past 100 years. The clips shown were just enough to make you say, “Oh man! I haven’t seen that in ages!” We talked about some of our favorites as they appeared on the screen and even started making a list of more movies our children need to see.

For us, the Cinematic Spectacular dining package was a perfect end to a wonderful family vacation.
