Disney's After Hours at Magic Kingdom

Returning for select nights in early 2018 is the Disney After Hours event! I had the opportunity to attend this event earlier this year and I loved every minute! Disney After Hours is by far my favorite “extra” I’ve added on to my vacations in the last couple of years – I think you’ll love it, too!

Disney After Hours is a hard-ticketed event, meaning it costs extra to attend, however a regular park ticket is not necessary – only the event ticket! My friend I decided to forgo buying a park ticket for that day and instead only doing the event.

Our After Hours ticket got us into the park at 7 pm, which allowed us time to watch the fireworks! The event officially kicked off at 9 pm, when the park closed to the public, and lasted for three hours.

Within 30 minutes, Cast Members had efficiently gotten all guests out of the park and only event attenders were remaining – after talking with a Cast Member, they estimated that less than 5,000 people were in attendance! This sounds like a big number, but when you take into consideration that Magic Kingdom typically sees about 50,000 people in the park per day, the number of people attending Disney After Hours seems so small!

Once the event was in full swing, there were carts scattered throughout the park offering complimentary (and unlimited!) popcorn, ice cream and beverages. There were dance parties happening in Tomorrowland, most attractions were open, as were some characters – including the princesses and Mickey Mouse!

My friend and I kept track of everything we did and in the three hours that the event took place and we got SO much accomplished! We ended up doing somewhere between 12 and 15 rides, as well as met Mickey Mouse, Princess Tiana and Princess Rapunzel! The wait times were little to none – at most, we waited about ten minutes for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which typically is over an hour wait during regular park hours. We also ate our weight in Mickey shaped ice cream, because obviously, when it’s unlimited, you have to!

So here’s the need to know info for the return of Disney After Hours in 2018:
