Let Them Eat Cake Part 2 Last week we introduced you to a fun way to add even more magic to your next Disney Vacation-with cake! But, before you can Let Them Eat Cake, you will need to make some decisions first. Here are a few questions to think on and be ready to answer when you call your travel agent or the Disney Cake Hotline to help you order your cake. What are you celebrating?

Think about what you specifically want to celebrate on this occasion. Be specific-that will make the creative ideas for your custom designed cake even more fun! Think outside the “Birthday Box”.  Although a custom cake is the PERFECT way to celebrate a birthday at Disney, you are not limited to birthday celebrations.  Get creative! You could celebrate achievements, promotions, a new baby, Run Disney races, retirements, a great report card, Valentine’s day, Talk Like a Pirate Day (it’s real-look it up!). The possibilities are endless.

Guess what? You don’t have to actually be celebrating ANYTHING in particular! Maybe you want to surprise your friends or family with cake for no reason at all. That’s OK too! Did you know you can order a “Celebrate Today” cake at the check-in podium of any restaurant for just $21? (The cake serves parties of 5 or less and is not available at Victoria & Alberts. Choose from Vanilla or Chocolate). Wouldn’t it be a fun idea to start a new tradition and pick one meal on each trip to surprise your family with a cake? Since you can be spontaneous with the “Celebrate Today” cakes this would be a fun and easy new family tradition. Keep them guessing which meal/day that celebration cake will arrive (and they may just end up surprising you!)

Where do you want to celebrate? Restaurants: As mentioned above you can order the basic “Celebrate Today” cake at the podium of any restaurant other than Victoria & Alberts. You could also order custom made cakes by calling the Cake Hotline 407-827-2253. Cakes can be ordered at select Theme park restaurants as well as Resort Restaurants and need to be ordered at least 48 hours in advance.

As you probably know you can make Advanced Dining Reservations as early as 180 days in advance. So, keep the cake options in mind as you make those reservations so you can plan for the right day and the right location for your celebration.

If you are on the Disney Dining Plan your dessert is included in your meal and you may not want to order your cake for the restaurant.  Ordered Cakes do not count as dessert with your Dining Plan so you may want to look at other location options below for custom cakes so you can still enjoy those wonderful desserts included in your meal plan.

Resort Room:

Resorts  can accommodate cake orders delivered right to your Resort Room, Restaurant, or you may pick it up in the food court.  This would make for a magical surprise and a more private celebration with just your friends and family as opposed to the whole restaurant. And you don’t have to worry about missing out on another great dessert with your meal. After all, you are on vacation. Have another dessert!

Another perk of choosing to celebrate in your room is that Disney can add balloons to liven up the celebratory atmosphere and they will also set up the desk or table with a tablecloth, plates, and napkins. Custom cakes with basic decorative and flavor options are widely available. For more extravagant and decorative cakes with fondant, intricate designs, and many flavors and filling options, look to the Restaurants at Deluxe Resorts and Signature Restaurants throughout the parks.  If you can dream it (and pay for it) Disney can usually do it. While this IS a post all about cake it’s really all about creating your own customized dessert magic. Want to celebrate but don’t want a cake?  There are other options!  If you are staying at a deluxe resort you can call private dining and ask about the “special occasion amenities”.  They vary by resort and they are not as large as a cake.  Here are some delicious examples: Several of the Deluxe Resorts such as the Grand Floridian Resort or the Yacht Club Resort offer a white chocolate mickey alone or with tuxedo strawberries or you could order just the tuxedo strawberries.

Regetta from YC

The Yacht Club offers the “Regetta”-Praline Pecans, Chocolate-covered Cherries, Gourmet Truffles, and Chocolate-dipped Oreo® Cookies. It is delicious!

Chocolate Monorail

Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers a white chocolate monorail

(These are not available at Moderate or Value resorts so plan accordingly and look at options at dining locations at some of the resorts as well as the parks.) Remember: You are on vacation!
