Lots of little girls want to be princesses and get a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Walt Disney World. But what if your little one isn’t into princesses? Or what if she’s outgrown the princess stage?
Disney has just the thing for you:
The Mermaid Makeover at Pirates League in Magic Kingdom!
There are two packages you can choose from:
The Standard Mermaid Package ($39.95), and The Deluxe Mermaid Package ($79.95). Both packages include mermaid makeup, a mermaid hairstyle with a fancy color-changing hair clip, mermaid necklace and bracelet, and nail polish. The deluxe package also includes a mermaid-inspired costume (t-shirt and tutu, youth sizes only).
When we went, I decided to purchase some comfy mermaid shorts and a top for my daughter from etsy before the trip, which worked well for us, as she was able to enjoy her outfit all day. And I knew it was a style she’d wear again to play dress-up at home. Then we planned to do the Standard Mermaid Package.
This is an experience you’ll definitely want to plan ahead of time. Reservations are available up to 180 days before your trip, so you’ll want to reserve your time slot about 6 months before you go to Disney. You can do this by calling 407-WDW-CREW, or ask your Disney Travel Agent to take care of it for you!
If you reserve a time slot early in the day, your mermaid can enjoy sparkling all day long (Pro Tip: Set up a FastPass to meet Ariel after your makeover, for a super cool photo!)
When you arrive at Pirates League in Adventureland for your appointment, you’ll check in at the podium, then wait for your name to be called to go inside. Once inside, your mermaid will sign the Mermaid Book and then be seated to begin the makeover. Since this location also does makeovers for Pirates of all ages, the decor looks like a pirate ship and the stylists are decked out in pirate attire, but they totally cater to Mermaids, too!
Your stylist will create a mermaid hairstyle complete with a sunlight-activated color-changing clip, then apply the seafoam green nail polish that all mermaids wear. Then comes the best part: application of fantastic blue-green shimmery makeup and special “scales” designs! When your mermaid sees the finished product, she will love it for sure!
After the makeover is complete, you’ll get a sash to complete the outfit. You’ll also get your own palette of makeup to recreate the look at home later.
Another fun thing about the mermaid (and pirate) makeovers at Pirates League is they are open for ages 3 and up, so if mom, or an older sister or an aunt would like to dress up too, they totally can!
