Dine Like Royalty at Akershus

If you have a Princess fan in your family, don’t miss the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot. We were so excited to start our first full day at Disney World with this breakfast.

Our reservations were at 8:30 am. Epcot opens at 9 am (and World Showcase doesn’t open until 11 am). If your breakfast reservation is before the park opens, there is a dedicated turnstile for you to enter through.

We headed through an empty Future Showcase to World Showcase. There was a good crowd already gathered outside the banquet hall. We checked in and let our girls go explore the pavilion (and the shops of course) while we waited for the hostess to call our names.

We were led into the hall where we met Belle. The PhotoPass photographer scanned our PhotoPass+ card and took a lot of pictures (as we had a large party) and we were then shown to our table. Our server explained the process of the breakfast – there is a buffet with cold items, fruit, pastries, and Norwegian specialties and your drinks along with a family style platter of eggs, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns are brought to your table.

The best part about character meals is that you don’t have to chase the characters down or wait in a super long line. The characters make their way around the restaurant, visiting every table to take pictures and sign autographs. Here, the Princesses occasionally take a break to have a processional around the restaurant (it happened at least twice while we were dining).

At the end of the meal, your server will bring you your photo prints from your interaction with Belle. If you have the PhotoPass+, you also will have the other pictures that they didn’t select to print digitally in your account if you scanned your card with the photographer. Because we had a party of 10, we received 3 print packages.

This meal was one of our favorites! The interaction with the Princesses was incredible. They took their time and took as many pictures as we wanted (with my girls, my cousin, my cousin’s son, etc). They had very “real” conversations with the kids. We never once felt rushed. My daughters generally don’t participate in the “follow the characters” parade type events at character meals, but they gladly joined in on these processionals! And the food was VERY good. Seconds came quickly and we were able to request a plate of just bacon.
