If you are looking for an extra special, luxurious, relaxing, afternoon experience, look no further than the majestic Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. On Certain days they hold a special tea in a beautiful window filled room overlooking the lobby and gardens.
After you are seated, you are greeted by your server who will go over the menu with you as you sink into the comfortable chairs and take in your surroundings. They don’t rush you which is fabulous, and they give you plenty of time to look over the menu.
There are different packages to choose from, each coming with a tea and then other options like sandwiches, scones, desserts, and champagne, depending on price point. You can also add on a glass of champagne to any package. Each tea is described well in the menu, and the servers are great at helping you decide what you may like the best (I love the Enchanted Forest!)
After you have made your decisions, your tea is brought out first, covered with a cozy to keep it nice and hot. Your server pours your first cup for you as well.
Then your food is brought out on a beautiful tiered platter, and everything is explained and pointed out to you. I like that it’s brought out all at once so you can eat and drink at your own pace.
They are even great at substitutions as a couple of the sandwiches didn’t seem appealing to me so I swapped them out for sandwiches from the kid’s menu.
While there is a good amount of food, be mindful that this isn’t meant to substitute a meal, especially if you are a heavy eater. I suggest either a late breakfast or an early dinner if you are trying to make your tea be a brunch/lunch meal.
Remember, the tea is only available from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and then 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Tuesday and Thursday. Reservations are highly recommended. The day we went they were not accepting walk ups.
