Disney’s Beach Club Resort

When you think of Disney Resort Hotels, you may think of the classic Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Or you may think of the iconic Contemporary Resort. These hotels are located near Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida. But there's another very classic Disney Resort Hotel that's located near Epcot - Just past Epcot's "Back Entrance" at the International Gateway, and within easy walking distance of the park. It's Disney's Beach Club Resort, and it's one of my personal favorites! The style here is very traditional, with calming tones of yellow and blue, and there are several room [...]

11 Ways to pass the time while waiting in line at Walt Disney World

Disney World is a magical place, and your days will be full of excitement and wonder! But your days will also be full of waiting. Waiting for rides, waiting for food, waiting for parades, and so on. I want to share some of the things my family does to pass the time: 1. Rock Paper Scissors - This is the old stand-by. It requires no special tools, and my kids have been playing it since they were about three years old. Now that they are older, they enjoy making up new options like Tornado and Fireball (Those beat all the [...]

Flo’s V8 Cafe at Disney’s California Adventure

GOOD (FAST) FOOD WITH A VIEW Disney's Cars Land area in California Adventure is so incredibly well-done, you absolutely must go see it! The attention to detail is amazing. And this is also true at Radiator Springs' local eatery, Flo's V8 Cafe. From the moment you walk up, you feel transported into the Cars movies. I half expected to see an animated vehicle roll up to order some food here! Once inside, the place seems like an old fashioned soda-fountain establishment from the 50's or 60's. You can eat in one of the dining rooms, but an even better idea [...]

The End of the Road Day 14 - After breakfast today, I stopped in the office at Pismo Lighthouse Suites and asked the desk clerk how find the sand dunes we looked for during yesterday's frightful adventure. It turns out that we had the right place the very first time! The place that had a flashing sign asking for permits and papers was just for people who want to DRIVE on the dunes. There's a restaurant just off the road where people can park and walk onto the dunes and beach. Knowing this, we had to go there after we [...]

Death Match 2014 – Day 11 trip report

Disneyland Park Well, my little one has been fighting some sort of illness for a few days now, and we had a bad night. So my older guys went with Gina and her crew to enjoy Disneyland Park at opening time, to knock out lots of rides as quickly as possible, and Amber & I joined them later in the morning. I'm a big proponent of arriving early at any of the Disney parks whenever possible. If you can get there when the park opens, you'll be able to see and do so many things in the first two hours! [...]

Disney California Adventure Background: About a year ago, I got a great idea for a road trip. I'd take my kids, fly from my hometown of Houston TX , to San Diego CA, and then drive from San Diego to Oakland. We'd stop and see all the sights along the way, and then fly home from Oakland. Then I asked my friend Gina, who lives in California, if she'd like to come along. With her kids. She agreed, and Death Match 2014 was born. Two ladies, seven kids, and a 15-day road trip up the California Coast. Day 10 - [...]
