A Perfect Day Off at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

If you’ve ever visited Walt Disney World in Florida, you know it can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a VERY tiring vacation! A typical day in the parks probably begins with a 6:30 am wake-up call and ends with bedtime around midnight, with about 7-10 miles of walking in between! By the third or fourth day,
the whole family can start feeling a bit (understandably) crabby, but I have a solution.

Add a day to your hotel stay, but don’t add a day to your park tickets, and take a Day Off in the middle of your trip!

Here’s my plan for a Perfect Day Off if you stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. On a Day Off, always start by sleeping in! Don’t set an alarm, and get the rest you need! Reserve a yummy late character breakfast at Cape May Café at Beach Club Resort to start your day.

Cape May Cafe has Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast buffet and all my favorite breakfast items, including Mickey Waffles! You’ll also get to meet Minnie and some of her friends in fun beach outfits, so be sure to bring your camera!

After breakfast, stop by the front desk and let them know you’d like to try the Scavenger Hunt. It’s a fun, free activity to do with your family! Sometimes, there’s a little prize for completing the hunt, so be sure to ask when you pick up your clue sheet.

If the weather is right, spend some time at Stormalong Bay. This 3-acre water park is only for guests of the Yacht and Beach Resorts, and it’s a huge perk! There’s a sandy beach, a lazy river, a 230-foot-long water slide, a mini water slide for little ones, and 3 whirlpool spas. And the Recreation Department usually hosts some fun games by the pool, so be on the lookout for those!

If you’d like a little space of your own and some extra relaxation during your pool day, Yacht Club also offers Poolside Cabana Rentals for resort guests.

When you’re ready for a cool treat, head to the outdoor window at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop! You can sit outdoors in your swimsuits, so it’s a very easy stop. They serve ice cream cones, shakes, floats, and the Mini Mickey Sink, which includes three types of ice cream and seven toppings served in a souvenir bowl! They also offer hard floats and milkshakes for the adults in your group (be sure to take your ID to the pool).

After your daytime activities, plan for some relaxing evening fun as well! You could reserve an early dinner at my favorite for the Best Steak at Disney, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and enjoy a beautiful Filet, New York Strip, or even a lovely Chilean Sea Bass. This is especially perfect if you’re having a Date Night!

As night falls, visit the campfire near the beach to make s’mores and enjoy Movies Under the Stars. When the EPCOT fireworks begin, you’ll be able to see them here, too!

It’s a perfect way to end your Day Off!When you’re ready to start planning YOUR trip to Walt Disney World, let me help you make the perfect
vacation for your family (Including a Perfect Day Off)!
