The Disneyland Hotel is the classic hotel of the Disneyland Resort. It was originally opened as a motor inn and was the first to operate under the Disney name. The main lobby is filled with Disney nostalgia including Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, and it’s a small world.
The hotel has 990 rooms divided into 3 Towers – Adventure, Fantasy and Frontier. The “lobby” in each tower includes nods to attractions in that land at the Disneyland park. The hotel has standard rooms and suites ranging from 740 to 3400 square feet. Some of these amazing suites include the Pirates of the Caribbean Suite, the Big Thunder Suite, the Fairytale Suite and the Mickey Mouse Penthouse. Room views can be upgraded to pool view (overlooking the pool area) or resort view (overlooking Downtown Disney and in the distance, the Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure). Standard rooms include a magical headboard complete with fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle.
The Concierge Lounge is located on the 11th floor of the Adventure Tower and offers an amazing view of the resort. Concierge level guests can take advantage of priority check-in, complementary continental breakfast bar, snacks and drinks throughout the day, and a dessert bar in the evening complete with a great view of the Disneyland fireworks including dimmed lights and the soundtrack piped in.
The pool areas keep with classic Disney theme including a pool slide with a classic Disneyland sign over replica monorail trains. The area surrounding the pool also has multiple gardens and firepits, which provide great spots to relax after a long day at the parks.
The dining options at the Disneyland Hotel include the quick service Tangaroa Terrace serving burgers with an island twist. You’ll find island themed bar food and kitschy cocktails at Trader Sam’s (a nod to the “headhunter” scene in the Jungle Cruise). Goofy’s Kitchen is home to a character buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, where you’ll find Goofy and friends. The hotel is also home to the upscale, award-winning Steakhouse 55 where you’ll find some of the best steak and lobster on property. There are also prepackaged salads and sandwiches and specialty coffees at the Coffee House.
As with all official Disney hotels, a major perk is the ability to charge purchases back to your room. By staying at a Disneyland resort hotel, guests also have exclusive access to Early Morning entry into a different park each day. Disney Land Park, California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and the Downtown Disney Monorail station are all an easy walk from the hotel. The monorail takes you directly into the park where you can help defeat Emporer Zurg or stowaway onto C3PO’s spacecraft with a stop in Tomorrowland.
