I love fireworks! Who doesn’t? The fireworks displays at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom are legendary. They just keep getting better and better as technology improves. The emotions those displays invoke are powerful and create lasting family memories. That’s part of why we all love going to Walt Disney World over and over again.
The current regular season fireworks display is called Happily Ever After. It is hands down one of the absolute best fireworks displays I’ve ever witnessed. It is only rivaled by my very first fireworks display at Disneyland and by the 60th Anniversary of Disneyland fireworks display. I really think that Disney somehow has managed to squeeze in every single Disney movie I love into this work of art. Between the music and the fireworks and the projection of amazing video onto Cinderella’s Castle, this show simply couldn’t get any better. It’s also pretty long or at least it felt that way. It’s always nice when you feel like you’ve gotten your money’s worth from a day at Disney!
So where do you stand to watch the fireworks? This is an age long question. Do you line up on Main Street or try to pack in close to the Castle? Disney does an amazing job of directing their guests into viewing areas and still maintaining the walkways for guests who aren’t watching the fireworks, but rather trying to exit the park or make their way to attractions that remain open during fireworks. But, still, it’s difficult to pick the perfect spot from which to watch.
Now Disney tries to make it a little easier for you to have a great view of the show. They currently offer two options for upgraded viewing of the fireworks. One option allows for seating and the second option is a reserved area in which to stand. Both include a fun and delicious Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace before the show.
If you’d like to sit and watch the fireworks, you’ll want to select the Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. The current price is $79 per adult and $47 per child ages 3-9. These prices do include tax, but not gratuity. Magic Kingdom park admission price for the day is separate and required. You’ll get to imbibe in a beautiful selection of desserts usually including chocolate dipped strawberries, Disney character themed desserts, ice cream, and cookies you can decorate yourself. Also, you can toast to your day at Disney with your choice of sparkling cider, hot chocolate, specialty lemonades, coffee, or tea. The desserts are impressive with “Happily Ever After” actually stamped on the bottom of the chocolate dipped strawberries! Such edible fun is just a trademark of Disney Magic! For this dessert party, you’re encouraged to check in one hour prior to the start of the fireworks show. You’ll be able to enjoy the desserts and drinks and then be shown to your seats on the patio of Tomorrowland Terrace for the perfect view of the show.
If you don’t mind standing for the fireworks, you can save a little and select the Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing. The price for this option is currently $59 per adult and $35 per child ages 3-9. As above, these prices include tax, but not gratuity and you must have Magic Kingdom park admission for the day. You will enjoy the same fabulous spread of desserts and drinks with this option, but you are asked to check in 75 minutes prior to the start of the fireworks show. This gives you time to enjoy your sweets and still have time to be escorted to the Plaza Garden viewing area and stake your standing spot. We chose this option and the view was great.
The view from the seating area is just a little bit better and of course, you get to sit, not stand, through the duration of the previously mentioned seemingly long show. That being said, if you’d like to ride attractions in the park right up until an hour before the fireworks without being concerned with viewing the show through the shade trees in the park, the standing option is great! It simply depends on how much you’re willing to pay to sit instead of stand. And as I said, you don’t have to spend precious attraction riding time reserving a place for your family to watch the show.
What’s your favorite fireworks display and from where do you watch it? I really enjoyed the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party!
