There’s an old song from the 1930’s called, “I Love a Parade”. It talks about the marching feet and the beat of the drum and how much the writer loves just being there for the parade. Well, that pretty much sums up how I feel about the parades at the Disneyland Resort, both at Disneyland and California Adventure!

Right now, there are three parades going on at the Disneyland Resort.

  1. Mickey’s Soundsational Parade- Usually, this parade is the afternoon parade in the Disneyland Park. Kicking off around 3pm, this parade is a must for music lovers, especially lovers of Classic Disney Movies. Mickey Mouse is the leader of this fun parade and he brings many of his favorite pals with him such as Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Pluto. Also featured are characters from such Disney Movies as The Little Mermaid, The Three Caballeros, The Lion King, The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins. So, basically, something for everyone! This is a great option for guests who have very small children and may need to head back to their hotel before the night parades begin. incredibles
  2. Pixar Play Parade- This spirited parade has been filling the streets of California Adventure Park for several years, but there’s nothing tired about it. It’s one of the most fun parades I’ve ever enjoyed! With characters from Monsters, Inc, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life, and the entire Toy Story series, you will find one of your favorite Pixar characters and be dancing along to the infectious music! Many of the floats blow bubbles and in warm months, you may get a welcome mist or spray of water from one of these floats. The timing is perfect. You’ve ridden your favorite attractions for the day and it’s not quite dinner time. Enjoying this party atmosphere will get you pumped up for more evening adventures at the California Adventure Park!Paintthenight
  3. Paint the Night Parade- As darkness falls at the Disneyland Park, anticipation grows for this amazing new parade that was created to celebrate the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. People often claim their favorite viewing spot along Main Street up to three hours prior to the kick off of the parade. I can still hear the music in my head. Seeing this parade is one of my favorite memories from Disneyland even after making many, many trips to the park. Tinker Bell leads the neon glow of the parade coming down the street and I believe she was really flying! You will also see such Disney favorites as Peter Pan, Lightning McQueen, Mike and Sully, Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa, and Buzz and Woody. Mickey Mouse in his wizard costume completes the parade because what would a Disney parade be without Mickey Mouse?! This parade ends the day for many guests, but I encourage you to stay for the fireworks display immediately following if possible. At busy times in the parks, Paint the Night is actually shown twice, the first time around 7-8pm and the second time at 10:45pm.

You can even book a dinner package that ensures you some great viewing locations for the Paint the Night Parade. Read all about that in a recent blog post from the Travel with the Magic website.

Always be sure to pick up an entertainment schedule when you enter the parks at the Disneyland Resort. That way you won’t miss YOUR favorite parade because I’ll bet that, like me, YOU LOVE A PARADE!
