Big Bear, California your natural paradise is just a short drive away. This is one of the few places in California where there is not only beautiful sunshine, but it also snows in several months throughout the year! It is truly one of the best kept secrets when visiting California. There are beautiful trees everywhere you look, there is a lake, hotels, cabin rentals, a zoo, shopping you name it. Big bear is a great way to get away, but still be close to all the comforts of home as well. There are grocery stores, pizza delivery and even a Costco close by.
Big Bear is best known for its amazing winters (even when not amazing there is tons of man-made snow as well) where you can snowboard, snow ski, or go tubing at many of the nearby ski resorts or you can drive around and pick your own snow-filled hill to sled down. Lots of people also enjoy building snowmen and having a good old fashion snow ball fight! There are activities to do here in any season or weather, from on several of the nature hiking trails, fishing in the lake , boating, golfing, bowling, riding dirt bikes, animal watching if you are lucky you may even see a brown bear, star gazing in the crystal clear skies, and riding scooters at the nearby skate park just to name a few. One of my favorite places to visit is the small zoo located in the heart of this city! Big Bear is a place where long lasting memories are made.
Big Bear also has an endless supply of accommodations to suit a last-minute get away, family get together, weekly or monthly cabin rentals, hotels, there are also several lake view rental properties that many people take advantage of all year long. So many people visit here and end up buying a winter home because they want to keep coming back again and again. Many people also love the scenic drive to this wonderful designation and ride on their motorcycles for the day and have lunch in one of the many amazing restaurants. One of my personal favorite places to visit is the small shopping area called The Village. The Village is filled with many unique shops, such as toy shops, clothing, antiques, ski and snowboard supply shops, as well as an old fashion ice cream parlor that serves many amazing and tasty treats as well as homemade candy!
