For me, the best vacations aren’t about how many rides you can fit into a day or how many things you can check off a list. They’re about spending time together and coming home with memories your family will talk about for years.

Hi! I’m Matthew. I’m a recently retired band director, husband, dad, lifelong planner, and a huge Disney fan. I spent 30 years teaching in the public schools in Maryland, and when I retired, I knew I wasn’t ready to simply stop working. I wanted to find something I enjoyed that would keep me busy, allow me to work with people, and give me a sense of purpose. Becoming a travel advisor with Travel With The Magic seemed like a great fit.

My family and I genuinely love Disney. I’m a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club member, runDisney participant, and frequent Disney traveler. We’ve taken countless trips to Walt Disney World, stayed at many Disney resorts, sailed with Disney Cruise Line, visited Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, and vacationed at Aulani in Hawaii. There always seems to be another Disney trip somewhere on our calendar, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I also LOVE planning it all.

I’m the person who enjoys researching resorts, comparing options, figuring out dining, planning transportation, and putting together an itinerary that makes sense. I’ll spend way too much time researching the little details because, to me, that’s part of the fun. After planning so many trips for my own family, I realized how much I enjoy helping other people figure it all out too.

It turns out that being a band director for 30 years prepared me pretty well for this. I spent my career planning performances, trips, festivals, and large events while managing schedules, budgets, transportation, students, parents, and plenty of unexpected changes along the way. You learn pretty quickly how to stay organized, solve problems, communicate with people, and adjust when plans suddenly change.

Maybe the most important thing teaching taught me is that no two kids are the same, and no two families are the same either. You have to listen, get to know people, understand what is important to them, and figure out what works best for them. I think planning a great vacation works much the same way.

There isn’t one “right” way to experience Disney. Some families want to be at the parks from rope drop until closing. Others want a great dinner and an afternoon by the pool. Some people love planning every minute, while others would rather have someone help them sort through all the choices.

While Disney is certainly a passion of mine, my planning services go beyond Disney destinations. I am also certified in all things Universal and can help plan and book vacations to both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. Whether your family is dreaming about Disney, Universal, or a vacation that includes both, I’m happy to help.

Whether you’re planning your first vacation or your fifteenth, my goal is pretty simple. I want to get to know your family, help you make good choices, take some of the stress out of planning, and help you have a vacation you’ll remember for a long time.

After all, the memories are the best part.

Thank you for contacting me!  Have a MAGICAL day!
