With the DVD release of Frozen, it has made me realize just how incredibly popular this movie is! Since the day we saw it in the theater, I’ve been trying to hunt down an Elsa T-shirt or costume in my daughter’s size to no avail and I live in a town with TWO Disney store locations! The appeal of Elsa and her sister, Anna is a little mind-boggling to me. I cannot remember a princess (or in this case, a set of princesses) that garnered such “boy-band” level fandom from people all over the country!

Frozen - Frozen characters at Disney World

As a Disney Destination Specialist, what I hear most can be summed up in one question, “Where can we find Anna and Elsa at Disney World?!” As a Disney World guest myself, you can be sure I’ve done my research.

Almost as soon as the movie was released in December 2013, Disney World had a character greeting spot just for the world’s most famous Disney royalty—Anna and Elsa. First appearing in Epcot’s Norway Pavillion, Anna and Elsa quickly became another great reason to visit Norway, grab some Skoolbread and ride Maelstrom! The World Showcase location seemed like a no-brainer with the story being set in Norway. It was also just across from a very popular dining location called Akerhaus Royal Banquet Hall. But if you’re traveling after April 20, 2014, your favorite Norwegian princesses will have departed for a more “magical” kingdom.

In mid-April, Anna and Elsa will become fixtures at the Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom! You can expect standby wait times to be quite long but you will now get to meet more princesses as the sisters join other Disney royals in this character greeting experience. The best part of this change is that you can now save a lot of time by making a visit with Anna and Elsa a FastPass+ selection!

Don’t fancy a wait to get a glimpse of Frozen? No need. On March 9, 2014 a new parade began its inaugural trek through the Magic Kingdom! The Festival of Fantasy Parade will now run most afternoons. It is a celebration of the parks’ newly reimagined Fantasyland and as you may have hoped, it features our newest set of beloved princesses AND their devoted friend, Olaf, the summer-loving snowman. Lucky for him, Elsa has the power of winter at her fingertips and Disney has its own brand of magic that helps a snowman come to life in the middle of a warm Florida afternoon.

Visiting the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique? Soon your little ones will be able to choose an Anna or Elsa dress as part of the Castle Package! If walking around all day in Anna’s shoes still isn’t enough for your Frozen fan you’ll probably have to pick up some themed merchandise while you’re there.

If you’re like me and hunting down that size 6 Elsa t-shirt, you might want to know exactly where to look when you’re holding hands with your princess at Disney World. As of right now, these shops are likely to carry merchandise from the movie, just be aware that inventory changes without notice.

At the Magic Kingdom, try Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. or Castle Couture in Fantasyland. If you’re visiting Epcot, visit Mouse Gear and The Puffins Roost and check out their huge inventories. Mickey’s of Hollywood and In Character at Hollywood Studios are more possible locations and of course, the World of Disney and Once Upon a Toy at Downtown Disney Marketplace are great places to find stuffed Olafs, princess gowns and a number of other must haves!

Frozen has given us two characters that prove that love for your family is true love indeed. I’m a grown-up and even I can’t help but tear up when I think of that “act of true love.” It’s a great message in my opinion and I’m thrilled to know that the characters are resonating with people both young and… not quite as young. 😉

Beware the frozen heart and make a plan today to visit the world of Frozen with the people, in your life, who are worth melting for.
