A friend of mine recently asked me if there were any Toy Story characters or rides at Disney. Her son is a big fan of all three movies, as well as the short films, and she was hoping there would be something Toy Story themed that she could share with him on their upcoming trip…
Well, friend, you’re in luck!
Here are the top ways to enjoy Toy Story at Disney’s Parks:
At Walt Disney World, there are several places to enjoy the Toy Story theme:
In Magic Kingdom, go to Tomorrowland where you can test your skill shooting lasers to destroy the Evil Emperor Zurg at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. And the best part is that your ride vehicle keeps score for you, so you can try to beat your buddy (and try to beat your own score, when you ride it again!)
Once you’ve ridden the attraction, check out your ride photos. Those are always great! And if you have Disney’s Memory Maker photo package, all your ride photos are included for you!
Also in this area of Tomorrowland, you can sometimes find Buzz Lightyear himself, ready for photos and autographs. Check the “Times Guide” when you arrive at the park, or use the My Disney Experience smartphone app to see when he’s expected to arrive.
Over in Frontierland, you can find Woody and Jessie for photos, autographs, and a big “Howdy!” so be sure to check which hours they’ll be there!
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll find Toy Story Midway Mania! This attraction is a 3-D Arcade-style game, and it’s so much fun. As you go through the queue, you’ll enjoy the great details in all of Andy’s toys, and listen to Mr. Potato Head as he tells you about the ride.
You’ll don your 3-D glasses and climb aboard, then test your aim with lots of “shooting gallery” games. Try to get the best score (accuracy counts)!
You can sometimes find Buzz and Woody near here for a character “Meet and Greet”, so check your Times Guide or Disney smartphone app to fit them into your day.
When you’re ready for a meal, why not try Toy Story’s Pizza Planet for some subs, salads, and personal pizzas? It’s a great way to keep the spirit going!
And if you’re over in Downtown Disney, check out the creations at the Lego Store!
If you plan to go to Disneyland in California instead of Walt Disney World in Florida, there’s plenty of Toy Story there, too!
At Disney’s California Adventure, you’ll find another Toy Story Midway Mania ride, complete with 3D glasses for the full experience.
Get your game face on, and shoot the most targets to get a high score!
California Adventure is also the home of the Pixar Play Parade. This very cool afternoon parade includes favorites from lots of Pixar movies, like The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Cars, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., and yep… Toy Story!
At the Disneyland Park, you’ll also find Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, which is much like the Buzz Lightyear ride at Magic Kingdom in Florida, and also be on the lookout for characters to meet!
