Which Park Should We Visit First?

2014-06-30T07:00:00-04:00June 30, 2014|Disney Travel|0 Comments

One of the questions I am often asked is “what park do we visit first?” The answer is that it depends on you! There is definitely an optimum order to visit Disney Parks but that order varies from family to family. For first time Disney World guests, I often suggest Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is quintessential Disney and there is nothing quite like the first time you walk through those gates, see all the color and Cinderella’s fabled castle as the happiest music on earth fills your ears! I dare you not to tear up just a tad! Believe it [...]

Death Match 2014-Days 14 &15 trip report

2014-06-29T09:06:25-04:00June 29, 2014|Travel, Travel Destinations|0 Comments

The End of the Road Day 14 - After breakfast today, I stopped in the office at Pismo Lighthouse Suites and asked the desk clerk how find the sand dunes we looked for during yesterday's frightful adventure. It turns out that we had the right place the very first time! The place that had a flashing sign asking for permits and papers was just for people who want to DRIVE on the dunes. There's a restaurant just off the road where people can park and walk onto the dunes and beach. Knowing this, we had to go there after we [...]

Death Match 2014 – Days 12 & 13 trip report

2014-06-28T08:35:42-04:00June 28, 2014|Disneyland|0 Comments

Leaving Los Angeles Day 12 - This morning, my six-year-old woke up feeling a bit better again. I was glad, as it was time to pack up all our belongings and hit the road. Again. But before we left, we had breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. The food was plentiful and delicious, and we had an added bonus: Cinderella made an appearance during our meal! That really made Amber's day. It really made my ten-year-old's day to have a plate of cookies for "dessert of breakfast"! After breakfast, we got the minivans, divvied up the kids, and [...]

Death Match 2014 – Day 11 trip report

2014-06-26T14:01:00-04:00June 26, 2014|Disneyland|0 Comments

Disneyland Park Well, my little one has been fighting some sort of illness for a few days now, and we had a bad night. So my older guys went with Gina and her crew to enjoy Disneyland Park at opening time, to knock out lots of rides as quickly as possible, and Amber & I joined them later in the morning. I'm a big proponent of arriving early at any of the Disney parks whenever possible. If you can get there when the park opens, you'll be able to see and do so many things in the first two hours! [...]

Death Match 2014 – Day 10 trip report

2014-06-26T07:00:00-04:00June 26, 2014|Disneyland|0 Comments

Disney California Adventure Background: About a year ago, I got a great idea for a road trip. I'd take my kids, fly from my hometown of Houston TX , to San Diego CA, and then drive from San Diego to Oakland. We'd stop and see all the sights along the way, and then fly home from Oakland. Then I asked my friend Gina, who lives in California, if she'd like to come along. With her kids. She agreed, and Death Match 2014 was born. Two ladies, seven kids, and a 15-day road trip up the California Coast. Day 10 - [...]

I am a be-prepared-for-anything girl. And a trip to Disney is no exception. I pack everything in my backpack because I don’t want to be caught and have to pay a high price at the parks. This includes bulky items such as a light jacket in case I get cold, my rain jacket in case it rains and an umbrella for defense against the sun. And if you include personal items, just-in-case medicines, wallet, everyone else’s stuff, and all those purchases, my backpack is bursting at the seams. The idea of having everything with me is great - except when [...]

Things to do in New Orleans

2023-10-30T16:48:45-04:00June 24, 2014|Travel Destinations|0 Comments

I grew up outside of New Orleans, and have done many touristy things, eaten in a lot of restaurants, and caught beads at a lot of Mardi Gras parades. Often times, friends will ask me for advice on things to do in the city and if II have any tips, so I thought a blog post as appropriate on the subject. 1.) Riverwalk Mall Outlet Collection: The Riverwalk mall is right along the Mississippi river, and it just reopened last week with a ton of new outlet stores and restaurants. I haven’t had a chance to get over there yet, [...]
