Art of Animation takes you to the movies – Part 3
The Big Blue Pool
If you have seen Finding Nemo you will no doubt feel as if you are in the Ocean with Nemo and friends when you step foot in the area of the “Big Blue pool”. From the moment you walk out of Animation Hall you will be mesmerized by what appears to be the Ocean. Disney doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to imagination, buildings are painted like an underwater theme. There are Jelly Fish, Sharks and Small Fish to name a few, the colors are amazingly vibrant the whole pool is engulfed in color.
The pool can only be used by resort guest so it is fenced in and has a key swab for entry. There is a place within the pool where you can fill your resort refillable mugs so you do not need to head inside while enjoying the sunshine.
The concept for this new pool is for guests to feel like Nemo, the characters surrounding the pool have been made larger than life, they are extremely large. You will see Crush and Mr. Ray to name a few.
Great thought went into the depths of the pool, it is designed for children of all ages. The zero entry was used by many families with babies and toddlers. Lifeguards are on deck as with all Disney pools but this is always a plus when you have children swimming in any pool.
The new feature that was added to the pool which is a first, is underwater music, when we were there we were treated to “The Yellow Submarine”! It seems strange but once you get the hang of listening underwater it’s pretty cool.
There is a splash pad for the kiddos when they want a small break from the pool. During the day there are games for kids as well as prizes and in the evening a movie by the pool.
If you are in the mood for play and no water there is Squirts playground where kids can play without getting wet.
This has easily become my family’s favorite pool, if you want to enjoy the “Big Blue Pool” or any other pool on Disney property please contact me for my FREE service, I will be happy to help you plan a magical vacation.
