Puerto Rico is “Pwetty Fun”;!

2014-09-03T07:00:00-04:00September 3, 2014|Travel Destinations|0 Comments

My husband and I love Hawaii! I’ve written about it several times in past blogs, so you know. So when we found out we had an opportunity to go to Puerto Rico on a business trip, we weren’t sure how it would it would stack up to our past experiences. But, now that we have been, I highly recommend it! The highly rated El Conquistador, a Waldorf Astoria Resort is the best-known resort on the island. It is secluded and you will get a good feel for the poverty on the rest of the island on the drive from the [...]

If It Sounds Too Good To Be True, It Probably Is!

2014-08-18T07:00:00-04:00August 18, 2014|Travel Destinations|0 Comments

If It Sounds Too Good To Be True, It Probably Is! (And other things your mother and your travel agent said to you) Haven’t you always heard this expression? “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!” And what about this one, “I told you so”? Don’t think for one minute that travel planners don’t make mistakes in planning their own family travel, because I’m here to tell you I did! Recently, my husband and I decided to take our family of five to Maui for a little rest and recreation. Our children are older now (20, [...]

Big River, California

2014-08-13T07:00:00-04:00August 13, 2014|Travel Destinations|0 Comments

When I think of summer vacation I think of sunny weather, I think of children getting out of school, I think of lazy mornings, barbecue’s and cooking s’mores, but most of all I think of packing up my car and driving out to Big River, California. Big River is a very small area located about fifteen minutes before Parker, Arizona. It is part of the Colorado River (which runs through Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Baja California, and Sonora). Big River is the perfect vacation spot if you enjoy being in or around water, boat rides, jet skiing, fishing, hiking, [...]

Death Match 2014-Days 14 &15 trip report

2014-06-29T09:06:25-04:00June 29, 2014|Travel, Travel Destinations|0 Comments

The End of the Road Day 14 - After breakfast today, I stopped in the office at Pismo Lighthouse Suites and asked the desk clerk how find the sand dunes we looked for during yesterday's frightful adventure. It turns out that we had the right place the very first time! The place that had a flashing sign asking for permits and papers was just for people who want to DRIVE on the dunes. There's a restaurant just off the road where people can park and walk onto the dunes and beach. Knowing this, we had to go there after we [...]

Things to do in New Orleans

2023-10-30T16:48:45-04:00June 24, 2014|Travel Destinations|0 Comments

I grew up outside of New Orleans, and have done many touristy things, eaten in a lot of restaurants, and caught beads at a lot of Mardi Gras parades. Often times, friends will ask me for advice on things to do in the city and if II have any tips, so I thought a blog post as appropriate on the subject. 1.) Riverwalk Mall Outlet Collection: The Riverwalk mall is right along the Mississippi river, and it just reopened last week with a ton of new outlet stores and restaurants. I haven’t had a chance to get over there yet, [...]

LOS ANGELES Background: About a year ago, I got a great idea for a road trip. I'd take my kids, fly from my hometown of Houston TX , to San Diego CA, and then drive from San Diego to Oakland. We'd stop and see all the sights along the way, and then fly home from Oakland. Then I asked my friend Gina, who lives in California, if she'd like to come along. With her kids. She agreed, and Death Match 2014 was born. Two ladies, seven kids, and a 15-day road trip up the California Coast. Day 6 - We [...]

Maui Wowie!

2024-07-09T20:19:36-04:00June 6, 2014|Travel Destinations|0 Comments

You know how we all work all year long at the gym or hitting the streets to run/walk so that we look great in a swimsuit? Or at least look decent? Well, I know that going to Hawaii is one of my incentives for keeping in shape. I look forward to enjoying all that the island life has to offer- the scenery, the great seafood, and the beautiful beaches. Whether you’re taking a helicopter ride over the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii, hiking one of Kauai’s nature trails, hanging out with the family at Disney’s Aulani on Oahu, [...]
