During my last trip to Disney World, I got to try the new D-Tech On Demand store in Magic Kingdom. The store, located next to the Space Mountain entrance in Tomorrowland, gives fans the opportunity to create really cool, personalized cell phones cases and/or MagicBands. There are lots of fun designs to choose from and the process is pretty simple. Disney offers the personalized cell phone cases for most iPhones (including the new iPhone 6s plus) and Samsung Galaxy S3/S4. An additional D-Tech On Demand store is located at the Marketplace Coop in Disney Springs.
When you first enter the store near Space Mountain there are two areas available to create your case and/or Magicband. I suggest going past the main location in the middle of the store as it is usually the busiest. In the back corner of the store near the processing station is another station. The day we were there, this back area was empty!
First you will choose if you want to create a cell phone case or a MagicBand. I wanted to create a case for my new iPhone 6s plus.
Once you get into the design area, you are given a couple different tabs to choose your artwork. As you see, Disney really offers many options from characters, favorite rides, etc.
After you select the artwork for your case, you will have the option to personalize it with your name for $8 more. Simply type in your name and click next.
Look over the final proof and make sure it is exactly what you want.
Once you confirm your order, you will get an order number. I took a picture of this with my cell phone so I wouldn’t forget it.
Now it is time to head for the cash registers. Give them your order number. The Cast Member will confirm the design with you and will give you a ticket to pick up your order.
It takes approximately 25 minutes for the case to be made. You can either wait or come back later to pick it up. This technology uses special ink that dries immediately, so you don’t have to wait to use your case.
When you are ready to pick up your new case, go to the counter at the back of the store that looks like this:
Hand them your ticket and they will bring you your case! You can either put it on your phone right away, or the Cast Member will package it for you.
So far I love my new Snow White case! It fits my phone perfectly and I feel like it will do a good job protecting it.
