Top 7 Do's & Don'ts @ Walt Disney World courtney@travelwiththemagic

1.

DO – Plan Dining, For resort guests dining reservations open 180 days prior to your check-in and if you are planning a visit during peak times this date can be crucial in getting both the restaurant and time you want. So start planning at least 7 months in advance to ensure prime availability.

DON’T – Walk Up, Almost all Disney restaurants book up months in advance, so don’t walk up the day of and expect a seat. If you would find yourself in this position ask if you can place a to-go order, some restaurants do allow this and if you are on the dining plan you don’t want your credits to go to waste.

2.

DO – Get up Early, The first hour after a park opens you can ride almost anything you want with little to no wait. Plus did you know the Magic Kingdom has an Opening Show everyday about 20 minutes before the park opens?

DON’T – Early Extra Magic Hours, Avoid the parks with morning magic hours unless you plan on arriving in time to utilize the hour. It would also be beneficial to have park hoppers so that you can go to another park once that one gets busy.

3.

DO – Plan Ahead, Did you know that all it takes to reserve your Disney vacation is $200? Plus for reservations in 2016 the balance doesn’t have to be paid until 30 days prior to check-in. This means depending on when you book you could have 16 months to make interest free payments on your balance. In addition if you book early and a discount becomes available you can apply the discount to your existing reservation, yes Disney gives you the best of both worlds!

DON’T – Wait, By waiting and booking last minute trips you may miss out on many different key elements plus your trip may cost more due to expired discounts. That certain resort you were wanting, a favorite restaurant or a new fastpass attraction may already be gone.

4.

DO –Dining Plan, Disney offers many different dining plans to meet not only your budget, but appetite. These plans essentially allow you to pre-pay for your meals and save you money in the meantime. Do also know which plan you have and what’s included so that you can maximize the plan.

DON’T – Waste Money, When using your dining plan at the bottom of each receipt will show the amount of meals left on your dining plan. Do NOT leave any meals unused!! Disney offers many pre-packaged snacks and meals that can be brought home with you.

5.

DO – Utilize Fastpasses, For resort guests Fastpass selections can be made a 60 days prior to check-in. This is a huge advantage when it comes to those hard to get fastpasses like Meet & Greets with Anna & Elsa or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

DON’T – Stay All Day, Plan a break mid-afternoon to go back and enjoy your resort and then come back to the same or a different park to enjoy the evening hours depending on the park ticket you have.

6.

DO – Enjoy the Magic, Disney is truly an enchanting place for both children and adults. Make sure you have time to enjoy the most Magical Place on Earth!

DON’T – Stress or Rush, While I hope you have planned exactly what you want to do, try not to over schedule. There are going to be times you ride something and instead of moving on you want to ride it again, that’s ok just roll with it.
