When planning a trip to Disney most of my clients think they will be eating burgers, nuggets and pizza for most of their trip, but surprisingly Disney offers over 140 total restaurants (ranging from snacks to AAA Five Diamond) that just may be some of the best meals they’ve ever eaten. For the ultimate experience you can combine a great meal with Disney characters. This way in a little over an hour you can meet 4-5 characters and eat. Tusker House is a buffet character dining option located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park that is a must do on my families’ vacation not only for the food, but also the atmosphere. Set to mimic an African market, Disney never lacks in the details and this restaurant is no exception. As of March 8, 2015 Tusker House now has characters for breakfast, lunch and dinner with Donald hosting the safari dining experience. Mickey, Goofy and Daisy also make their way to your table and to complete the meal the children are asked to join in a fun dance around the restaurant.

Now for the important part for adults – the food! If your family is big on breakfast then this is one you definitely want to plan for. I only wish Disney would sell the “jungle juice” because it is simply scrumptious. The buffet has any breakfast item you can imagine while incorporating a few African dishes as well. There is also a dedicated station for those with food allergies, and quite a few gluten free items as well. Your sweet tooth won’t be disappointed either, as there are many pastries and donuts from which to choose. If you are a Krispy Kreme fan this is one of the few places to find them on property. Lunch and Dinner both have a mixture of spitfire roasted meats, specialty African side dishes as well as American fare so don’t be scared that it will be too far out of your comfort zone. No matter what meal you choose to eat, there will be something for everyone and it’s sure to please.
