I have mentioned in a past post that Downtown Disney is being given a makeover and a new name, Disney Springs. When I visited Walt Disney World in February, I got a chance to take a look at some of the new construction, and I can’t wait to see the final product!
Some of the things discussed in this post have been around for a few months or up to a year, but since I had not been to Disney in a year they were new to me.
First up is the walkway or causeway going over the water. This had actually just opened right before I arrived. It is a great way to cut out some foot traffic and make it easier to get around. There are kiosks along the causeway with local Florida items you can purchase.
Here is a close up of the kiosks on the bridge.
Also, the new boat dock was moved over, and a new walkway to Saratoga Springs was open.
Something that has been around for a little while but was new to us was the addition of the food trucks new the Characters in Flight hot air balloon.
The trucks were really cute and had some delicious looking food offerings!
We continued walking around and noticed lots of Disney Springs emblems in different areas, symbolizing the new name an makeover.
The Starbucks that is open next to the World of Disney store blended in nicely and was very busy.
I will say my favorite new addition was the Marketplace Co-op. It’s really hard to explain this cool location, so you will have to go visit for yourself. I will say it is not to be missed if you are a fan of “old school” Disney.
We chose to dine at Splitsville for lunch, so we got to take a peak at construction further down on the West Side end of Disney Springs. cannot wait to see the finished product!
