There has been much excitement over Rivers of Light: not only the show itself, but the Dining Package as well! Similar to Hollywood Studios’ popular Fantasmic, Animal Kingdom is offering a Dining Package with Preferred Viewing Seats. I scheduled the Dining Package on my recent trip to Disney and wanted to share my experience!
You currently have 2 choices for the Dining Package: Tusker House and Tiffins. Tusker House is a family friendly buffet with Donald and his friends, and Tiffins is a fine dining experience with African/Asian flavors.

Since Tiffins was new, we decided to choose this dining experience! The food was fabulous and unique!
The only addition we added was coffee with our dessert. Our total for 2 adults came to $167.
Tip: Tiffins is a great adult dining or date night dining choice. However, if you don’t want to spend that much on your family, or use 2 Dining Credits per person, I would opt for the Tusker House Dining Package which is quick, easy and more affordable.
Bonus: For a limited time, Dining Packages receive a beautiful Lotus Popcorn Container Free! Good for $1.50 Popcorn at the show or anytime in the parks!
We were given tickets at the end of our meal and were encouraged to arrive at our seating 45 minutes before showtime to have our choice of seats in the Premium Viewing Amphitheater. The Premium Viewing Amphitheater is located across from the Finding Nemo Musical attraction, while the standby seating is located across from Expedition Everest. The main difference in these two viewing areas, is the laser projections. Just as at Epcot, the Laser Show, viewable from around the lake, has best viewing locations. The Premium Seating for the Rivers of Light Show is directly facing laser projections which allows for spectacular views.
Tip: Be prepared for heat and extreme sunlight while you wait for the sun to set and the show to start.
The Show was beautiful! It tells a story of the magic of nature: the animal spirit guides, the Owl, Elephant, Tiger and Turtle, present a larger than life tale of the beauty of life. The show includes floats, directed by GPS, boats with dancers, and laser water and fountain displays. The surrounding trees along Discovery River are also a backdrop for light parades!
Overall it was a very relaxing experience and one I recommend. It won’t be a show that I have to see every time I come to the Animal Kingdom; but it was enjoyable, and I encourage your family to go!
To do the Dining Package or not? If you are on a tight schedule, and you don’t want to wait in the stand by line, the Dining Package is a great choice if you weren’t able to grab fast passes!
