If you look up a definition of “on the rocks”, you’ll find several different options. You say something is “on the rocks” if it is likely to fail. If you order a drink “on the rocks”, it means it has ice in it. But, the “On the Rocks” I want to tell you about is the great poolside bar and grill located at Walt Disney World’s Saratoga Springs Resort.
Saratoga Springs Resort has a unique story. It is inspired by historic Saratoga Springs- a late 1800’s New York retreat famous for its’ spas and horse racing. You’ll find all kinds of “horsey” memorabilia and themed areas here, but their poolside bar and grill has charm all its’ own.
Obviously, if you decide to spend a day at the pool rather than the parks, a poolside bar and grill will suit your needs perfectly. On the Rocks offers poolside delivery of both great poolside food such as sandwiches and salads and also great drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They also serve a dynamite flatbread and offer several varieties such as caprese, cheesy, and a classic pepperoni. If you’d rather drink your meal, they serve delicious smoothies, again both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Once you place your order, you’ll be given a flag with a number on it. That way, your order can easily find you. This is especially convenient with multiple servers and a busy day at the pool.
On our recent trip to Walt Disney World, a rare thing happened. IT WAS COLD! So, we chose not to have a pool day. That didn’t stop us from taking advantage of this hidden gem by the pool. We even frequented the bar and grill twice! The first time we ate there was upon arrival. We had dinner reservations, but not for three more hours and we were traveling with hungry teenage boys. We didn’t dare ask them to wait three hours to eat so we stopped off at On the Rocks. We shared a couple of their tasty flatbreads and had our first of many yummy drinks while at the resort. Our boys sampled their smoothies and gave them a “thumbs up”. Our second visit to On the Rocks was when we had come back to the resort for an afternoon rest. We were headed out to dinner, but just needed a little “pick me up”. On the Rocks fit the bill perfectly.
On the Rocks, though, is known best for its’ great drinks! This is only natural since, as I mentioned above, the term “on the rocks” has a drink application to it. It means again that your drink is served over ice. This is particularly wonderful on a hot day when you really need a cold drink. On the Rocks Poolside Bar and Grill doesn’t serve only great drinks over ice, but rather great blended drinks as well. I mentioned their smoothies already, but their signature blended alcoholic drinks are both colorful and delicious. They offer a Pinacolava, an Apple Mule, and a CocoJito that will help make your Disney trip more magical!
