A Taste Test for the Wizard at Heart

Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans are one of the most popular treats in the wizarding world and Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter! These are very similar to Muggle Jelly Beans, except they have been created in every flavor imaginable: some you want to taste and some you do not!

If you ever wonder what that magical box held inside, but were afraid to open it, well, my family has taken then mystery and the misery out of the beans for you!

We purchased our beans at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade.

In the spirit of a wizarding adventure, we decided to take a blind taste test and see if we can determine what exactly we were eating!

The small box of beans contains a mix of 20 different flavors. We found 19 in our box and we divided them into colors:

Blue

White with Brown Spots

Yellow with White Spots

Gray and Black Spots

Beige

Lime Green

Orange with Red Spots

Pink with Different Colored Spots

Dark Red

Brown with Black Spots

Yellow with Brown Spots

Kelly Green

Light Green with Dark Green Spots

Bright Red

Brown with Red/Brown/White Spots

Very Dark Green

Pink

Green with White Spots

These were our rules for our Taste Panel of 3:

1. Each person gets 1 bean. If there aren’t 3 beans, a bean will be cut to share.

2. Each person must chew the bean.

3. A consensus must be obtained for the flavor.

4. Each person will eat a saltine cracker between beans to cleanse our palate.

5. The Flavor Guide would be consulted only after all beans had been eaten.

And we started on our exciting and frightful experiment!

For the most part, we guessed pretty close. Sometimes we practically threw up; and sometimes our taste buds jumped with joy! But, we always ended up surprised and laughing at the faces either other made!

The only color we were missing was white which corresponded to soap. And we decided we could pass on that one!
