Won't Do again on my Disney Vacation

Even though I traveled to Walt Disney World three times in the past year, each trip has been extremely different! From jam packed, to extremely relaxing, to going for a RunDisney race, I’ve experienced many different kinds of Disney vacations! Throughout these experiences, I’ve learned what I like to do…. And what I’m okay with not doing on future vacations. Read on to learn about the top three things I’ve learned so you can do Disney like a pro!

1. Don’t sleep in. On my most recent trip, we relaxed a little bit more and didn’t pack so much into our days. We slept in, took midday breaks and even just sat down and people watched instead of going to attraction after attraction. While this was relaxing, we came home talking about how little we accomplished on this trip! To make the most out of your day, you definitely want to be at the parks before it opens! And if you HAVE to take a break – go watch Mickey’s PhilharMagic (my favorite thing in Magic Kingdom!), or lounge on the new grassy area of The Hub in Magic Kingdom!

2. Don’t assume you’ll do everything in one trip. On my very first trip as an adult, I assumed that since I was going to be at Disney World for an entire week that I would be able to do more – not true! The Disney parks and resorts have SO much to offer, some things aren’t even widely advertised (like Chip & Dale’s Campfire at Fort Wilderness)! My biggest tip to first time Disney-goers is to make a list of what is a priority to your family. Want to meet Mickey Mouse? Make it a priority to do that first thing when you get to Magic Kingdom!

Fireworks

3. Not taking fireworks and parades into consideration when planning. On a past trip, I scheduled dinner at Be Our Guest at 7:30 pm, but I didn’t know how slow their service can be, which totally caused us to miss the majority Wishes – which was our only chance to see it on that trip! We did catch the tail end of it, and it was a unique way to watch the fireworks, but I was still pretty bummed. Live and learn, though, right?! Now I look up times for parades and fireworks before I make any dining reservations so I know I won’t miss anything that I consider a “must-see”!
