Disney parks have a great way of making it easy for you to capture the magic while on vacation with the PhotoPass system. There are photographers located throughout the Disneyland resorts – at park entrances, prime locations, and at select meet and greets – ready to take your picture and then, if you don’t already have one, provide you with a PhotoPass card. This PhotoPass card can then be used at all photographer locations for the remainder of your trip. You can then login to DisneyPhotoPass.com and enter your card information to see all of the pictures from your trip. These pictures can then be customized with fun Disney borders and more. You can even create photo gifts such as books, calendars, coffee mugs.
At the Disneyland resort, you can purchase Disney’s PhotoPass+. With this purchase, you receive digital copies of all of your photos taken by PhotoPass photographers as well as select attraction and character photos and your photos from select character dining locations. You also receive a PhotoCD that will be shipped to you after you have had a chance to review and customize your photos. You are able to purchase PhotoPass+ once you have arrived at the Disneyland Resort, however, you’ll save about $30 by prepurchasing. (This is a special offer that must be purchased more than 14 days prior to your trip). If you prepurchase, simply visit the Main Street Photo Supply Company to activate it once you arrive.
One fun extra feature that is included is called “Magic Shots.” These are special photographs that the photographer will take by posing you in a certain fashion. When you view your photos online, a Disney character will magically appear in the photo with you! Always ask your photographer which magic shots they can take, as there are different shots for different areas of the parks and not all photographers can offer them. When we visited this last summer, we found Stitch making a mess, celebrated summer with a cute snowman name Olaf, and even found a chameleon. Plus, extra photos sometimes appear in your account depending on the location of where you’re taking photos. We took our picture with Lightning McQueen and Mater in Cars Land, and were pleasantly surprised to find stock photos of Cars Land at night and with no crowds.
If you have a character dining reservation, these pictures are also included. Plus, you receive the photo print for free. These prints are normally around $30, so if you have 2 dining reservations, you’ve almost paid for the PhotoPass+!
At only $70 when prepurchased, I thought this was a great deal for our trip. We always look at the ride photos, but never purchase them. We have our ride pictures from many, many rides on California Screamin’ and Radiator Springs Racers. (Photos from Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Tower of Terror are also included). These photos are about $15 each if you purchase them separately.
The PhotoPass+ is a great souvenir that is very much worth the cost. At $70, you receive digital copies of all of your photos, prints from dining locations and even a CD filled with stock Disney images. The photos make it very easy to create personalized gifts to remember your Disneyland vacation.
